Welcome to the Plutoid App! We believe in transparent, modern, and legally compliant data operations. This page outlines how we handle data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023 and other global frameworks (GDPR, CCPA), and the rules governing your use of our platform.

PART 1: PRIVACY POLICY

The Plutoid App is operated by Plutoid Technologies Limited. Below is our plain-English breakdown of how we collect, store, and process your personal data in accordance with the NDPA 2023.

1. Data We Collect & Lawful Bases of Processing

Under Section 24 of the NDPA 2023, data processing must stand on a legitimate legal foundation. Here is what we collect, and why:

Account Basics: Name, username, email, and password hashes (secured via Firebase Auth).
- Lawful Basis: Performance of a Contract (NDPA Sec. 25(1)(b)) – necessary to set up and run your account.
Categories & Interests: Custom personal classifications (e.g., Art, Animals, Technology, Coding) that you choose to customize your content feed.
- Lawful Basis: Consent (NDPA Sec. 25(1)(a)) – which you can change or withdraw at any time.
Identity Avatars: Profile pictures generated via the DiceBear API using a seed based on your username.
- Lawful Basis: Consent (NDPA Sec. 25(1)(a)).
Connection Metadata: Device model name (via expo-device) and approximate country (resolved via IP address query through ipinfo.io at registration).
- Lawful Basis: Legitimate Interests (NDPA Sec. 25(1)(f)) – to optimize regional app formats and ensure security.
Your Content: Posts, media uploads, comments, likes, saves, and sharing/reposts.
- Lawful Basis: Performance of a Contract (NDPA Sec. 25(1)(b)) – to display your feed and interact on the platform.

2. Analytics Tracking & Retention

Analytics Dashboard: We collect view events (view_analytics), comment records (comments), and likes (likes_collection) to produce the engagement metrics visible to you on your personal Analytics Dashboard inside the Plutoid App.
- Lawful Basis: Legitimate Interests – displaying engagement data that helps you understand your content reach.
Retention Period: We keep your data only as long as your account is active or as required by law (e.g. metadata retention rules under the Nigerian Cybercrimes Act).

3. Cross-Border Data Transfers

The Plutoid App is hosted globally. Your profile information and posts are stored on secure Google Firebase Firestore and Cloud Storage server environments located outside of Nigeria (such as in the United States or Europe).

TL;DR: Though we operate from Nigeria as Plutoid Technologies Limited, our backend infrastructure is hosted abroad. We ensure that international processors maintain adequate security standards compliant with Section 41-43 of the NDPA 2023.

4. Children’s Privacy

In alignment with Section 31 of the NDPA 2023 and the Child’s Right Act of Nigeria:

Users under 18 years old must use the Plutoid App with the guidance of a parent or legal guardian.
Children under 13 years old are prohibited from creating accounts. We do not knowingly collect coordinates from children under 13. If we discover an account violates this age gate, we terminate it immediately.

5. Moderation settings & Safety Controls

Filters: You can toggle Filter Explicit Content and Hide Sensitive Media (which blurs images by default) from your Content Moderation settings inside the Plutoid App.
Reports: You can report any post for review (Spam, Misleading, Unwanted Sexual Content, Anti-Social, Illegal, or Other). Submitting a report alerts our human review team immediately.

6. Your Rights Under the NDPA 2023

Section 34 of the NDPA 2023 grants you detailed rights over your data. You have the right to:

Be Informed: Request clear disclosure of how your data is processed.
Access (Download): Request and download a complete archive of your stored data (user_data.txt) directly from the Account Settings menu.
Rectify: Modify or correct your profile data at any time via the Edit screen.
Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): Deactivate your account in Settings (sets status to "0", hiding your posts from others) or request a permanent wipe by emailing plutoidapp@gmail.com.
Restrict Processing: Request that we limit how your details are used.
Data Portability: Download your data in standard, readable layouts to transfer elsewhere.
Object: Object to direct telemetry and automated processing.
Withdraw Consent: Withdraw your consent for categories, profile pic requests, or optional settings.
Lodge a Complaint: If you feel we have breached your rights, you can file a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) (https://ndpc.gov.ng).

PART 2: TERMS OF USE

By accessing the Plutoid App, you represent that you agree to govern your usage under these terms:

1. Account Eligibility & Security

Age Limit: You must be 13 or older to form a binding agreement with Plutoid Technologies Limited.
Account Safety: You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized breach.

2. Acceptable Use Policy & Cybercrimes Act Compliance

To maintain a safe, premium platform, and in compliance with the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015 of Nigeria, you agree not to:

Use the Plutoid App for cyberstalking, trolling, or targeted harassment/bullying of other users.
Post or broadcast verified misinformation (fake news) or defamatory media.
Coordinate or facilitate illegal financial schemes, fraud, or phishing scams.
Attempt to bypass data security settings, exploit software vulnerabilities, or scrape/crawl users’ personal info.
Upload illegal, explicit, or sexually graphic content without selecting appropriate moderation settings.

3. Content Ownership & Licenses

Your Content: You retain copyright ownership of posts you submit. By uploading content, you grant the Plutoid App a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to host, display, and moderate your posts.
Proprietary Rights: Plutoid Technologies Limited owns all database configurations, styling modules, interfaces, code, designs, and brand symbols for the Plutoid App.

4. Indemnification & Disclaimers

“As-Is” Service: The Plutoid App is provided without warranties of any kind. Plutoid Technologies Limited is not responsible for user-generated content or server service interruptions.
Liability Caps: We limit our liability to the greatest extent allowed under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) 2018 and standard merchant rules.

5. Suspensions & Terms Updates

We reserve the right to suspend or block user accounts (status "0") that violate these rules. We will update the effective date of this agreement as features change. Continued use of the Plutoid App signifies your acceptance of updated policies.
